SPARKS TALKS: online talks for practitioners in the field of dance 6–7 August 2020 – Registration open!
SPARKS TALKS is a series of online talks by renowned international dance practitioners on artistic, dramaturgical, productional & touring perspectives for large stage dance productions.
SPARKS TALKS is an online seminar that gathers together dancers and industry experts. The purpose of the seminar is to exchange ideas and experiences for creating and producing dance performances for large stages.
During the two days, presentations by four international experts invited by Dance House Helsinki will be heard. The SPARKS project experts are choreographers Mathilde Monnier Antony Hamilton, Head of Producing and Touring at Sadler's Wells - Bia Oliveira, and dance dramaturg Katherine Profeta. Each of them will share their work experience and perspectives on considerations when making work for bigger venues. All are welcome to participate in the talks online via registration.
These talks are part of a larger programme for the SPARKS project which supports the development of new work by dance artists in Finland. The pre-selection of these artists and projects has already been held, and in this next phase the experts will support the artists in the programme by being advisors and provide a sounding board for the development of their ideas into a proposal for residency. The SPARKS Project culminates in 2022 / 2023 with the commission of six new productions which will be seen on stage at Dance House Helsinki.
